Hi my name is Sheb and this is Shebnation. I am an amateur athlete, mother of one boy, a wife, lover of dogs, home cook and hold certificates in nutrition coaching (Pn1) and wine (C.S. through the Court of Master Sommeliers). I’ve spent a lot of time in the Food and Wine Industry, and even won some awards.

I began to lose sight of my health in 2007. The stress of the service industry is no joke and I fell prey to all the trappings. I ate too much, drank too much, was not engaged in intentional exercise; often I felt like complete shit. I was deeply depressed, stressed out all the time, and in general, a wholly unpleasant human being.

In 2012 I began to get my act together. I started by addressing my woeful lack of physical activity. I made small goals, achieved them, and slowly but surely got on my feet. I picked up crossfit; which then spawned an interest in olympic lifting. I had never put my hands on a barbell until 2013; now I cannot imagine my life without them!

After dabbling in whole 30s, paleo, and a host of other trendy diets, I was still unhappy with my body composition, despite 5-6 workouts a week and  what I viewed as “clean” eating. In September of 2016, I got some nutrition coaching and adopted the old tried and true method of macronutrient tracking- something weightlifters had been doing since the 1970s. A year later, my body fat is down to 22%, my lean muscle mass is up and I feel like the interior athlete within now matches the athlete I see on the outside. It’s nice being able to lift up heavy shit in your life and beyond. Being a curious sort, I went ahead and took the Precision Nutrition Course “The Essentials of Sport and Exercise Nutrition” and here we are!

I now offer nutrition coaching to those interested in exploring the macronutrient lifestyle. I’m not going to lie- it’s a bit of a pain in the rear, but I know of no better way to keep an athletic build while still having access to great food- and sometimes even a little wine or gin.
